I am a writer and researcher based in Melbourne, Australia.
I am interested in issues of environmental justice (especially where it intersects with Indigenous land use and knowledge); environmental protection; and the role of words and images in constructing ‘nature’ and ‘wilderness’.
I recently completed a PhD in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne. My research engaged with the ethics and politics of place in environmental conservation campaigns by analysing news media constructions of threatened landscapes. My thesis focused on the proposal to build an LNG processing plant at Walmadan (James Price Point) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
This blog is where I reflect on the bits that didn’t quite fit into the thesis, and explore more broadly ideas about place, mediation and environmental conservation.
I welcome any thoughts and feedback. Please feel free to get in touch or leave a comment on any of my posts.
